Anxiolytic (tranquilizer). Adaptol is similar in chemical structure to the natural body metabolites - its molecule consists of two methylated fragments of urea included in the bicyclic structure.
Adaptol affects the activity of structures belonging to the limbic reticular complex, in particular hypothalamic emotiogenic zones, and has an effect on all four major neuromediator systems: GABAergic, cholinergic, erotonergic and adrenergic one, improving their balance and integration, but has no peripheral adrenoceptor blocking action.
It eliminates or reduces anxiety, fear, internal emotional tension and irritability. The calming effect is not accompanied by muscle relaxation and loss of coordination.
Adaptol does not reduce the mental and physical activity, so it can be used during the working day or studying. It does not create high spirits or feeling of euphoria.
It does not have a soporific effect, but enhances the effect of hypnotic drugs and improves sleep in case of sleep disorders.
Adaptol eases or relieves nicotine withdrawal.
It provides a nootropic effect in addition to the calming one. Adaptol improves cognitive function, attention and mental performance, without stimulating symptoms of productive psychopathological disorders - delirium, pathological emotional activity.
